Elephant Back
So Lake Village is not really known for any really good hiking opportunities, but we do have one: Elephant Back. It’s been there all season, and I’ve always wanted to just go up it, but I’ve never done it. So yesterday, I decided to just do it. Glenn and his mom and sister are in town, and we decided to all go together. Howie and his brother Nick joined us. The hike was easy and short, and the view was beautiful up top. We could see a great view of the lake, and all of the buildings where we work and live.
I realized when I got to the top that I had forgotten to eat at all that day, and hadn’t eaten since breakfast the day before. I was starving. And thirsty too. When was the last time I had water?
The night before was Daniel’s last night here. We all celebrated at the pub with him until early into the morning, and then went to the Osprey dorm to hang out one last time. We didn’t end up parting ways until around 4 am, and he had to wake up at 5:45 to leave at 6 am for a flight out of Bozeman. I promised I’d wake him up.
Bed for an hour, and then, true to my word, I walked back over to Osprey in the morning darkness, and woke him up. We gave one final goodbye, and that was that. I will miss him dearly.
